Cleaning Your Flutter Lashes for Reuse
Love Your Lashes Longer
One of the best things about your next-generation Flutter DIY lashes is their incredible reusability! With a little simple care, you can enjoy your favourite lash styles again and again (3+ times!), making them a smart and sustainable part of your beauty routine. Follow these steps to keep your lashes, and your tools, in perfect condition for their next glamorous appearance.
What You'll Need:
- Your used Flutter lash clusters
- A small, shallow bowl
- Isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher recommended for dissolving adhesive and sanitising)
- Your Flutter Precision Tweezers (or similar fine-tipped tweezers)
- A clean spoolie (a silicone one is ideal, but any lash spoolie or a q-tip will also work)
- A clean tissue or paper towel (for drying clusters)
- Optional: An alcohol swab (for cleaning your tweezers) if not using bottled Isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free pad
Step-by-Step Cleaning for Reuse
-
Prepare Your Cleaning Area
Set out your cleaning supplies (listed above) in a clean, well-lit area where you can comfortably work with your delicate lash clusters and tools.
Important Safety Note: Isopropyl alcohol is for cleaning your detached lash clusters and tools only. Never use isopropyl alcohol directly on your skin near your eyes or allow it to come into contact with your eyes. -
Remove Old Bond from Clusters
Place your used lash clusters into the bowl and add just enough isopropyl alcohol to cover the lash bands. Let them sit for a minute or two to soften any remaining bond residue.
Carefully hold one cluster at a time with your tweezers and use your clean spoolie (or q-tip) to gently brush or rub away all the old bond from the lash band. Be thorough but gentle to protect the delicate band and fibres. -
Dry Lashes Thoroughly
Once all bond residue is removed and the bands are clean, carefully take the clusters out of the alcohol. Lay them flat on a clean tissue or paper towel and allow them to air dry completely before moving onto Step 5. -
Clean Your Precision Tweezers
It's crucial to keep your Precision Tweezers clean for hygienic and effective application. After each use:
- Use an alcohol swab to thoroughly clean all the surfaces of your tweezers, taking particular care of the tips. This effectively removes any Bond or Seal residue and sanitises your tweezers.
- Alternatively, moisten a lint-free pad with isopropyl alcohol and carefully wipe down your tweezers.
- Allow them to air dry completely before storing. Clean tweezers keeps them hygienic and prevents buildup that can cause your extensions to stick to your tweezers.
-
Store Lashes for Next Time
To maintain their beautiful shape, curl, and cleanliness for their next application, carefully place your cleaned and dried lashes back into their original Flutter box or a dedicated lash storage case.
Important Notes for Reuse (Post-Cleaning)
- Allow Full Evaporation: After cleaning lash clusters with isopropyl alcohol, it’s best to wait overnight (or at least several hours) before planning to reapply the same set of cleaned lashes. This ensures all traces of alcohol have fully evaporated from the bands, which is critical for your eye health and for the new bond to adhere properly.
- Instant Fresh Set Option (Part of Your Lash Reset): Want a fresh look straight away after removing and cleaning a used set, without waiting for them to dry overnight? This is where having two sets in your Flutter kit comes in handy! Simply reach for your second set of clusters. If you're following our weekly Lash Reset, you can alternate between your sets.
- Prep for Reapplication: Remember, whether you're using a freshly cleaned set (that has fully dried) or a new/spare set, always start your reapplication process by thoroughly cleaning your natural lashes with an oil-free cleanser. This removes any makeup, skin oils, or residue from your previous lash removal (especially if an oil-based remover was used for the final cleanse). A perfectly clean base is key for optimal bond adhesion and long wear.
